A state in South Asia,\r\n known natively as the\r\n \u201cLand of the Bengals\u201d <\/h2>\r\n \r\n \r\n
\r\n \r\n \r\n Bangladesh is one of the highest\r\npopulated countries in the world\r\nwith a population of 160 million\r\npeople living in an area of 143,000 km2\r\n.\r\nAbout eighty percent of the people still\r\nlive in villages and more than 70 % of these\r\nrural households are involved in keeping\r\npoultry. Unfortunately, they also face serious constraints as well as a high mortality\r\nrate of poultry which is said to be as high as\r\n25 % due to a combination of many factors\r\nlike improper feeding practices, ignorance\r\nof management needs and poor distribution of vaccines.

\r\n In Bangladesh, the poultry industry\r\npractically started as an emerging agribusiness during the eighties. With humble beginning of small commercial poultry\r\nfarming in the early 1990\u2019s, the production\r\nstage developed into an industry with\r\nthe introduction of economic and exotic\r\nvarieties of breeds. The emerging poultry\r\nindustry has received attention of the investors with remarkable changes in the\r\nlast decade.

\r\n Poultry is a substantial contributor to\r\nfood supply in Bangladesh. Many small\r\nand medium farmers are rearing poultry\r\nin Bangladesh. Development of poultry\r\nhas generated considerable employment\r\nopportunities through the production and\r\nthe marketing of poultry and poultry-related products.

\r\n In the last few years, the recognition\r\nof small-scale commercial poultry production has been helping to accelerate the\r\npace of poverty reduction in Bangladesh.\r\nThe poultry industry has successfully become a leading industry of the country\r\nand this sector has also been growing rapidly in the last two decades. It has already\r\nbeen able to rise at an annual growth of\r\naround 20 % during the last two decades.\r\nThe industry has immense potentialities\r\nto contribute to the economic growth of\r\nthe country as well as ful\u001cl basic needs,\r\nkeeping the price at a minimum level and\r\nensuring food supply, especially in terms\r\nof animal proteins, for human beings.

\r\n\r\n

LOHMANN in Bangladesh<\/H2>\r\nThe \u001crst introduction of LOHMANN<\/strong> in\r\nBangladesh was through Phenix Poultry\r\nLtd. already in 1992. LOHMANN BROWN<\/strong>\r\nadapted very well to the Bangladeshi environment and created a very good acceptance and demand among the farmers until\r\n2009. Unfortunately, market conditions\r\nand severe problems in logistics did not\r\npermit a continuing market presence in\r\nBangladesh. However, last year LOHMANN\r\nLSL<\/strong> and LOHMANN BROWN<\/strong> were reintroduced into the Bangladeshi market by\r\nthree new customers: Aman Poultry and\r\nHatchery Ltd, Nahar Agro Complex Ltd and\r\nNourish Poultry and Hatchery Ltd. This is a\r\ngood foundation for gaining market share\r\nin Bangladesh according to the leading position of LOHMANN<\/strong> chicks in Asia.

\r\nA BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF OUR\r\nCUSTOMERS IN BANGLADESH<\/H2>\r\n\r\nNourish Poultry and Hatchery Ltd<\/strong>
\r\nNourish Poultry and Hatchery Ltd, an agrobased company, was established in 1999\r\nand belongs to the Nourish Poultry Group,\r\na subsidiary of Khaled Group of Companies. The latter is engaged in producing\r\nday-old broiler and layer chicks as well as\r\nfeed for broilers and \u001csh. Nourish Poultry\r\nand Hatchery Ltd. ensures customer satisfaction by providing high quality chicks,\r\nfeed and service.

\r\nToday, Nourish is considered a brand\r\nname with a steady and consistent market growth and premium quality products.\r\nOther group associates include Nourish\r\nFeeds Ltd which produces poultry and aqua\r\nfeed and Nourish Agro Ltd., primarily a feed\r\nmanufacturing company. Nourish Agro also\r\nhas a broiler GP operation with an estimated weekly production of 1 million DOCs\r\nnot to mention, a layer parent breeding\r\noperation with integrated farms, a research\r\nand development unit as well as a large scale of own commercial broiler farming.

\r\n NOURISH ranks with the \u001crst position\r\nin producing broiler feed and is in the third\r\nposition for the production of layer feed in\r\nthe country. By 2015, the Group expects\r\nto produce 40 thousand tons of feed per\r\nmonth to establish its leadership in the\r\nmarket. The top management of Nourish\r\nexpects to produce 32 thousand broiler parent stocks per week and 2 million broiler\r\nchickens per month by the end of 2015.

\r\n Nourish is our second LSL Lite PS\r\ncustomer in Bangladesh. The \u001crst\r\nbatch of 10,000 birds is in production and commercial\r\nchicks have already been\r\nplaced.

Nahar Agro\r\nComplex Ltd<\/H2>\r\nThe journey of Md.\r\nRakibur Rahman,\r\nin the poultry industry started in\r\nthe year 1989.\r\nThe Nahar Agro\r\nComplex Limited\r\nformally came\r\ninto existence in\r\nthe year 2001.

\r\n From 2001 to\r\n2005, the company\r\nwas only involved\r\nin the broiler parent\r\nbreeding business. Due\r\nto the increase of the demand of layer chicks on\r\nthe market, the company\r\ndecided to start a layer\r\nbreeding business as well.

\r\nNahar Agro Group\r\nis the fastest growing\r\npoultry company in\r\nBangladesh and one of the prominent\r\nagro industries. They have a broad \u001celd of\r\nbusiness areas such as poultry, dairy, feed\r\nand \u001csh. The main focus, however, is the\r\npoultry supply chain in Bangladesh. Nahar\r\nAgro Complex Limited in Chittagong is\r\nengaged in producing eggs and chicks for\r\nsale in the domestic market. The company\r\noperates with 4 production lines which are located in di\u001eerent places. Last year,\r\nNahar Agro Complex Ltd. became our\r\nsecond LSL Lite Parent Stock customer in\r\nBangladesh housing 10,000 females. Plans\r\nare in place to triple the capacity by next\r\nyear.

\r\n\r\n\r\nAman Poultry and Hatchery Ltd\r\n\u201cAman\u201d means peace in the local language.\r\nThe company dates back to the late sixties\r\nduring the erstwhile Pakistan period. The\r\nancestors of the group started a small scale\r\ntrading and contractual business. After the\r\nemergence of Bangladesh, the business\r\n\u001bourished a little under the banner of\r\nAman Trading Corporation. In the\r\nlate eighties the trading business\r\nwitnessed a steady growth. In the\r\nmid 1980\u2019s, the group felt that a\r\nmere trading business might\r\nbring only individual wealth.\r\nBeing a well-placed family in\r\nsociety, the group wanted to\r\nuplift the poor mass economically. This highly in\u001buence\r\nideas about venturing into investments that can generate\r\nemployment for the rural masses.\r\nThe group therefore decided to\r\nparticipate in the process of industrialization. The company is active in\r\nthe textile, construction, trading and\r\nagro-based industries.\r\n The agro-based industry includes a parent breeding business which was established in 2010. This operation went into\r\nproduction in 2012. Layer Parent breeding business is the latest addition to their\r\nbreeding activities. In 2013, they started a\r\nlayer business with 10,000 LOHMANN\r\nBROWN CLASSICS<\/strong> with the forecast of\r\nplacing 5 \u001bocks of 10,000 each in di\u001eerent\r\nlocations.
