{"id":52260,"date":"2020-08-28T15:14:45","date_gmt":"2020-08-28T13:14:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lohmann-breeders.com\/10th-international-symposium-on-mareks-disease-and-avian-herpesvirus-in-the-us\/"},"modified":"2020-08-28T15:14:45","modified_gmt":"2020-08-28T13:14:45","slug":"10th-international-symposium-on-mareks-disease-and-avian-herpesvirus-in-the-us","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lohmann-breeders.com\/zh-hans\/10th-international-symposium-on-mareks-disease-and-avian-herpesvirus-in-the-us\/","title":{"rendered":"10th International Symposium on Marek\u2019s Disease and Avian Herpesvirus in the US"},"content":{"rendered":"From July 20 \u2013 23, 2014, the 10th International Symposium on Marek\u2019s\r\nDisease and Avian Herpesvirus\r\nwith more than 200 participants was held\r\nin East Lansing, hosted by the Michigan\r\nState University and the USDA-ARS Avian\r\nDisease and Oncology Laboratory (ADOL).\r\nThe symposium covered both Marek\u2019s Disease, a Herpesvirus induced lymphoma,\r\nas well as Infectious Laryngotracheitis, an\r\nacute respiratory disease.<br><br>\r\n In sessions on Epidemiology &#038; Diagnosis, Virology, Immunology, Host Genomics &#038; Genetic Resistance, Pathogenesis\r\nas well as Vaccine &#038; Protection 48 speakers\r\npresented their most recent work. As in\r\nprevious Marek\u2019s symposia many papers\r\nwere related to molecular biological work\r\nfor identi\u001ccation of the virus, characterization of pathogenicity, interactions of both\r\n\u001celd and vaccine viruses with the hosts\r\nimmune system and development of new\r\nvaccine strains.<br><br>\r\nA special program point was a panel\r\ndiscussion on \u201cPerspectives on Marek\u2019s\r\nDisease Breakthroughs since the 1930s\u201d,\r\nfeaturing important advances over the\r\nlast three decades of the 20th century discussed by important researches and scientists such as Peter Biggs, Bruce Calnek,\r\nHsing-Jien Kung, Ton Schat, Jagdev Sharma, Egon Vielitz and Richard Witter, all well\r\nknown for their engagement in Marek\u2019s\r\nresearch and control.<br><br>\r\n The present situation of Marek\u2019s\r\nDiseases in Europe was illustrated in a\r\nposter session by Dr. Egon Vielitz, presenting\r\na survey done with veterinarians and members of the \u201cPoultry Veterinary Study Group\r\nin the EU\u201d (PVSG-EU).
