The time gap between the end of an experiment and the publication of results has been\r\nreduced considerably. <\/blockquote>\r\n\r\n <br><br>\r\n\r\nScientific articles are being produced under high time pressure and\r\nonly on restricted areas of interest. scientific progress is communicated\r\nthrough a large number of successive articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals\r\nwhich are often difficult to understand for\r\nthe common reader.<br><br>\r\n<H2>Bridging the gap <\/H2>\r\n<strong>LOHMANN INFORMATION <\/strong>aims to bridge\r\nthis gap in selected areas along the production chain of animal-based food. \u201cwe\r\nwill publish up-to-date scientific results in\r\nan easily understandable format\u201d, says Prof.\r\nDietmar Flock. \u201cOur articles address current\r\nissues in life science which are of special\r\ninterest for livestock extension services,\r\ngovernmental authorities, farm managers,\r\nveterinarians and students in applied poultry and livestock science.\u201d The scope of\r\n<strong>LOHMANN INFORMATION<\/strong> comprises the\r\nwhole field of animal food production ranging from breeding to husbandry systems,\r\nfeeding and nutrition, health and veterinary care, product quality, environmental\r\naspects, issues in animal welfare and changing consumer demands. The information\r\nprovided is based on independent scientific sources and practical experience. The\r\nlist of references ensures that the reader\r\ncan find more detailed information on a\r\nparticular subject of interest in the references cited. <br><br>\r\n\r\n while the main animal species targeted by <strong>LOHMANN INFORMATION<\/strong> is poultry, articles on other species of farm animals\r\nand articles of general interest in the context of sustainable food production \u2018from\r\nfarm to fork\u2019 will also be included from time\r\nto time. \u201cwe appreciate receiving comments, questions and suggestions from\r\nour readers on subjects they would like to\r\nread about in future issues of our journal.\u201d <br><br>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<H2>Change in editorial management<\/H2><br>\r\n\u201cWe would like to take this opportunity\r\nto announce changes in the editorial management\u201d, says Prof. Dietmar Flock, who\r\nhas been serving as editor of <strong>LOHMANN\r\nINFORMATION<\/strong> since 2006. Prof. Flock is\r\nnow being assisted by Prof. werner Bessei,\r\nwho currently acts as co-editor and will\r\ntake over as editor following a transitional\r\nperiod. Prof. Bessei is well-known in the scientific community as senior Vice-President\r\nof the world Poultry science Association\r\n(wPsA) and the President of the German\r\nBranch of wPsA. werner Bessei studied\r\nAgricultural sciences at the University of\r\nHohenheim, stuttgart-Hohenheim,\r\nGermany, from\r\n1967 \u2013 1971. <br><br>\r\nAfter his doctorate at the Institute of Animal Husbandry and Breeding\r\nof the same university, he joined PhilipsDuphar, D\u00fcsseldorf, as Technical Advisor\r\nfor agro-chemical products in western europe, Northern Africa and the Middle east.\r\nFrom 1985 to 1990, he served as an Animal\r\nProduction Officer (Poultry) at the FAO\r\nHeadquarters in Rome. From 1990 onwards, he was a professor for Farm Animal\r\nethology and small Animal sciences at the\r\nUniversity of Hohenheim.
