Its economy is based primarily\r\non agriculture. The majority of the popula\r\n–\r\ntion is poor and about 70% of the people\r\nare living in the rural areas of the country.
\r\nThe egg is the cheapest source of ani\r\n–\r\nmal protein available to the people. Alt\r\n–\r\nhough the per capita egg consumption is\r\naround 70 eggs per person, which is very\r\nlow according to\r\nWHO standards, people\r\nare becoming more aware about the be\r\n–\r\nnefits of eggs consumption, particularly\r\nthe middle class population. It also shows\r\nthat Pakistan has a huge potential in egg\r\nconsumption.
\r\nIn the last decade, commercial layer\r\nfarming in Pakistan has been changing\r\nvery rapidly from deep litter systems to\r\nmodern cage housing. Day by day, more\r\ninvestors are coming very rapidly from the\r\ntextile industry and other industries to in\r\n–\r\nvest hugely in modern commercial layer\r\ncage farming as well as in prefabricated\r\nhouses and egg branding machines, the\r\n–\r\nreby indicating intentions towards the ex\r\n–\r\nport of eggs to the markets in the Middle East and central Asia.\r\nLSL\r\nLite & LSL\r\nUltra\r\nLite
\r\nLSL-Lite is a very famous breed throug<\/strong>
\r\n–\r\nhout the country. This is due to its laying\r\npersistency, its good adaptability to cage\r\nenvironment, lesser feed intake and docile\r\nnature. The total market share of L\r\nSL-Lite in\r\nthe Pakistani market is 40%.
With the introduction of L\r\nSL-Ultra Lite\r\nto the Pakistani market, people are beco\r\n–\r\nming more interested in buying the new\r\nbreed due to its lesser feed intake and\r\nslightly higher number of eggs with an ac\r\n–\r\nceptable egg size.
\r\nSeminar Summary<\/strong>
\r\nOn 25th of February 2016, Lohmann joint\r\n–\r\nly organized a seminar with its two major Pakistani customers, Samundri Chicks and\r\nBahoo Chicks. The seminar was attended by\r\nalmost 250 commercial layer farmers and\r\npoultry consultants from all across the Pun\r\n–\r\njab province. The guests of honours of the\r\noccasion were Dr. Muhammad\r\nSadiq of\r\nS\r\na\r\n–\r\ndiq Poultry (the biggest integrator and layer\r\nfarmer with 1.2 million commercial layers)
\r\n\r\nand Mr. Mian Qaiser of\r\nShabir group of com\r\n–\r\npanies with (0.6 million commercial layers). The seminar started at 3:00 o clock in\r\nthe afternoon. Various national and inter\r\n–\r\nnational speakers presented their valuab\r\n–\r\nle presentations on different topics with\r\npractical approaches for trouble shooting\r\nin the commercial layer farming business.\r\nThere were also presentations from our\r\ncustomers Bahoo Chicks and\r\nSamundri\r\nChicks. The latter presented their history\r\nand their future plans. The seminar began\r\nwith a presentation by Mr. Muhammad\r\nAnees of\r\nSamundri Chicks. He introduced\r\nhis company and elaborated on their fu\r\n–\r\nture expansion plans. Dr. Muhammad Ha\r\n–\r\nfeez Malik of Bahoo Chicks then followed\r\nwith an introduction of his company and\r\nits future intentions.
\r\nDr.\r\nSohail Habib\r\nS\r\nyed,\r\nSales &\r\nService\r\nManager at Lohmann Tierzucht GmbH\r\n(LTZ) Germany, introduced the company\r\nand provided information on its variety of\r\nbreeds across the globe. He also presented\r\nLTZ\u2019s shares in the global market.
\r\nMr. Ron Eek, Regional Area Manager\r\nfor the Asia Pacific Region at LTZ, held a\r\npresentation on \u201cGenetics at Lohmann\r\nand the continuous improvement of the\r\nbreed, Lohmann L\r\nSL\u201d. He also introduced\r\nthe L\r\nSL-Ultra Lite breed to Pakistan since\r\nthe Pakistani market demands hens which\r\nlay eggs that are medium in size and\r\nweight, produce a higher number of eggs\r\nper hen housed and have less feed intake\r\n\u2013 an important advantage considering the\r\nhigh feed prices in the country.
\r\nDr. Muhammad Akram of Mico Labs\r\nin Karachi and an ex-consultant Ommat\r\nPoultry in\r\nSaudi Arabia gave a presentati\r\n–\r\non on the \u201cImmune system and vaccinati\r\n–\r\non of poultry\u201d.
\r\nDr. Maqsood Jafri,\r\nSenior Layer Consul\r\n–\r\ntant shared his presentation on \u201cCommer\r\n–\r\ncial layer rearing management and disea\r\n–\r\nses which effects the layer production\u201d.\r\nProfessor Dr. AD Anjum,\r\nSenior Poultry\r\nConsultant, then elaborated on \u201cBio-security\r\nin poultry farms\u201d.\r\n
After these informative presentations,\r\none of the speakers, Dr. Muhammad\r\nSadiq\r\nof\r\nSadiq Poultry PVT Ltd., also addressed\r\nthe audience and thanked all speakers\r\nwith his valuable comments on taking ac\r\n–\r\ntive roles to increase the awareness of egg\r\nconsumption in the country and to end\r\nthe current crisis of overproduction.
\r\nMr. Muhammad Sharif Malik of Bahoo\r\nChicks and Breeding Farms, expressed his\r\ngratitude at the end of the seminar.\r\nAll the participants were treated to a\r\nlavish dinner at the end of seminar.\r\n
