Vietnam, or as it is officially known: the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, is a country that occupies\r\nthe eastern and southern part of the Indochinese peninsula in south east Asia.<\/h2>

It has a subtropical\r\nmonsoon climate with a total land area of 325,361 sq km. In 2017, it had estimated population of 96\r\nmillion inhabitants. Vietnam is known for its rich culture and delicious food. With a coastline of 3,200\r\nkilometres, many beautiful beaches and bays with white sands and clear blue waters abound in Vietnam<\/strong>.<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\n\r\nAI \u2013 facts and figures<\/strong>

\r\n\r\nA paper by N.V Duc and T.Long on Poultry\r\nProduction Systems in Vietnam, stated in\r\nDecember 2003 that the poultry industry\r\nin Vietnam was severely affected by avian\r\ninfluenza: 38.3 million heads of poultry\r\nwere destroyed and died. This accounted\r\nfor 15.1 percent of the total poultry population,\r\nof which 50 percent were chickens,\r\n30 percent ducks and 20 percent other\r\nbird breeds (Anh, 2004).

By March 2004,\r\nbird flu was under control (Anh, 2004). Although\r\nthe poultry population decreased\r\nby 14.13 percent in 2004 compared with\r\n2003, it is still 0.78 percent higher compared\r\nwith 2005. In 2007, the poultry industry\r\nbegan to recover with another increase\r\nin the population of 5.31 percent compared\r\nwith 2006 (Statistical Yearbook of Vietnam,\r\n2007). Although avian influenza was,\r\nand still is, a concern in the country, the\r\nVietnamese poultry industry proved to be\r\nresilient and is here to stay.<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\r\nVietnamese layer industry<\/strong>

\r\n\r\nToday, for the layer industry, there are an\r\nestimated 30 million layers in the country.\r\nPer capita consumption of eggs is around\r\n110. The Vietnam market is dominated\r\nby brown egg layers although duck eggs\r\nare also preferred. In 2016, there were 14\r\ncompanies importing layer parent stocks.\r\nIn 2017, three companies failed to import\r\nbringing this figure to a total of only 11\r\ncompanies. This led to a decrease of PS\r\nlayer imports from 345,000 to 300,000.

\r\n\r\nJapfa Comfeed Vietnam<\/strong>

\r\n\r\nOne of the leading companies that supplies\r\nquality layer DOCs in the Vietnamese\r\nmarket is JAPFA Comfeed Vietnam. \r\n\r\nJAPFA Indonesia has already been a LOHMANN\r\nBROWN grandparent customer of\r\nLOHMANN TIERZUCHT for a long time. In\r\nApril 2016, a contract between JAPFA Vietnam\r\nand LOHMANN TIERZUCHT GMBH\r\nwas signed for the Indonesian company to\r\nbe the distributor of LOHMANN BROWN in\r\nVietnam. On 21 April 2016, the first batch\r\nof LOHMANN BROWN parent stocks was\r\ndelivered from Cuxhaven Germany to Ho\r\nChi Minh City, Vietnam. From that time on\r\nthe partnership between two companies\r\nhas continued to grow.

\r\n\r\nLOHMANN BROWN \u2013 a breed to be\r\nreckoned with<\/strong>

\r\n\r\nThe superior technical know-how, experience\r\nand dedication of JAPFA personnel\r\ncombined with the excellent genetic\r\npotential of the birds has made the LOHMANN\r\nBROWN a breed to be reckoned\r\nwith in Vietnam. The traits of LOHMANN\r\nBROWN such as efficient production with\r\nhigh peak and long production periods\r\ncoupled with a uniform dark brown egg\r\ncolour, good shell strength and superior\r\ninternal egg quality, makes it the breed\r\nof choice of many Vietnamese layer farmers.\r\nJAPFA\u2019s customers also like the trait\r\nthat the spent hens are a bit heavier than\r\nthe competitors. JAPFA supplies day-old\r\nchicks in Vietnam and spent hens are also a\r\nsource of income for the layer farmers.

Marketed\r\npaired with JAPFA\u2019s commercial feeds and\r\ntogether with good technical support and\r\nafter sales service, the survival and correct\r\ngrowth of the chicks they sell are guaranteed.\r\nThis results in efficient production\r\nduring the laying period. Today, JAPFA\r\nVietnam is continuing to expand with a\r\nnew parent stock Farm with a sizable capacity\r\nin Dong Nai Province.
