{"id":52863,"date":"2020-07-23T18:00:49","date_gmt":"2020-07-23T16:00:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lohmann-breeders.com\/humane-society-international-seminar-surabaya-indonesia\/"},"modified":"2020-07-23T18:00:49","modified_gmt":"2020-07-23T16:00:49","slug":"humane-society-international-seminar-surabaya-indonesia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lohmann-breeders.com\/zh-hans\/humane-society-international-seminar-surabaya-indonesia\/","title":{"rendered":"HUMANE SOCIETY INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR, SURABAYA, INDONESIA"},"content":{"rendered":"<strong>Cage-free egg production &#8211; new concept in Asia<\/strong><br><br>\r\n\r\nCage-free egg production <strong>has been practiced for decades and\r\nis not something new in Europe or in other western countries in\r\nthe world.<\/strong> <br><br>\r\n\r\n\r\n<blockquote>However, in Asia this concept is still new but gaining in\r\npopularity due to increased awareness about animal welfare and\r\nin particular about the living conditions of laying hens in the cage\r\nsystem.<\/blockquote><br><br>\r\nIn south east Asia, major companies such as Charoen Pokphand\r\nFoods, Betagro of Thailand, San Miguel Corporation and\r\nBounty Fresh of the Philippines have started to implement cagefree\r\nproduction in their operations to fulfil this growing demand\r\nas more and more companies like Accor Hotels, <strong>Compass Group,\r\nSodexo and Unilever Group<\/strong> are committing to 100 percent cagefree\r\negg supply chains.<br><br>\r\n\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lohmann-breeders.com\/media\/2020\/07\/HUMANE-SOCIETY-INTERNATIONAL.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"80%\" class=\"imgcenter\" \/><br><br>\r\n\r\n<strong>First technical workshop on cage-free egg production<\/strong><br><br>\r\n\r\nHumane Society International (HSI), in cooperation with the Indonesian\r\nVeterinary Medical Association (IVMA), recently hosted south\r\neast Asia\u2019s first technical workshop on cage-free egg production on\r\n3 September 2018 in Surabaya, Indonesia. <br><br>\r\n\r\n\r\n<blockquote>It was attended by more\r\nthan 80 participants including egg producers, government officials\r\nand academics specialising in animal husbandry and veterinary\r\nsciences from Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia. <strong>It also brought together\r\nfood industry leaders,<\/strong> technical specialists, egg producers,\r\nacademics and poultry equipment manufacturers to share their experiences\r\nand provide technical advice on successfully implementing\r\ncage-free egg production systems in south east Asia.<\/blockquote>\r\n<br><br>\r\nSpeakers from various organisations like Sodexo, <strong>LOHMANN\r\nTIERZUCHT, Big Dutchman, Humane Farm Animal Care and Potato\r\nHead Family contributed.<\/strong> Their presentations covered topics\r\nsuch as the south east Asian market trends for cage-free products,\r\nthe scientific basis to support cage-free egg production, and also\r\ntechnical aspects on the successful management of cage-free\r\nlayer flocks. <br><br>\r\nThe standards and criteria required for animal welfare\r\ncertification and cage-free corporate social responsibility procurement\r\npolicies were also discussed in depth, and also how the\r\nHumane Society International is involved to help producers transition\r\nfrom cage production to cage-free production systems.<br><br>\r\n\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lohmann-breeders.com\/media\/2020\/07\/HUMANE-SOCIETY-INTERNATIONAL1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"80%\" class=\"imgcenter\" \/>\r\n<br><br>\r\n\r\n<strong>LOHMANN \u2013 technical know-how<\/strong><br><br>\r\n\r\nLOHMANN TIERZUCHT, represented by Mr Ron Eek, the Regional\r\nArea Manager for Asia, and Ling Ling Chuah shared with the audience\r\nhow our breeds, in particular <strong>LOHMANN BROWN layers\r\nand LOHMANN LSL CLASSIC commercial layers,<\/strong> are adapted to the\r\ncage-free system and how our breeds perform better in this new\r\nsystem. <br><br>\r\n\r\n\r\n<blockquote>Laying performance results in both conventional systems\r\nand cage-free systems were compared and tips on how to rear\r\nthe pullets for good performance were discussed.
