Dear readers,

The challenges are growing, but so are the chances. High and further increasing feed costs are a worldwide issue. When looking back at the past twelve months, one must state that prices for components or feed mixtures have increased by approximately 30 percent. And if forecasts are to be believed, we have to adjust to rising raw material costs, also in the long term. The reasons for this development are the growing worldwide consumption as well as production restrictions due to ecological ambitions especially in the European Union, which additionally reduce the global supply.

The steadily rising demand for high quality food in order to feed the world’s population is the chance for our product: the egg. Since the feed efficiency of a layer is significantly higher as compared to that of the red meat producers, cattle and pigs. Moreover, the nutritive value of one single egg is equivalent to the nutritive value of 120 grammes of red meat. If the consumption of drinking water and the CO2 balance are also taken into account, this advantage will be intensified considerably once more. Thus, our egg has a positive and promising future ahead!

Sincerely yours, Hinrich Leerhoff
