Back to Where It All Begins: Focus on the Hatchery
In 2025, we’re once again returning to where it all begins: the hatchery. As part of the LOHMANN HATCHERY COURSE, participants from around the world come together to dive deep into all aspects of incubation and chick quality.
International Participants and Lively Exchange
Led by Davide Assirelli, our General Technical Manager Incubation, this year’s Hatchery School provided an exciting learning platform for 25 participants from 13?countries. This diverse mix encouraged especially rich experience-sharing and lively discussions.
Comprehensive Programme with Expert Knowledge
The programme was wide-ranging and highly practical. Internal and external speakers covered topics such as genetics, ventilation and biosecurity, SPIDES, hatchery construction and optimisation, and many more. A particular focus was placed on not only delivering knowledge but also allowing ample time for questions and discussion, so everyone could benefit from experiences across different countries.
Practical Workshops and Hands-On Learning
A central part of the course was the practical workshops led by Davide Assirelli, where participants could apply and deepen what they learned directly.
Excursion to Helgoland – with Typical Northern Weather
Of course, there was also a social programme: an excursion to Helgoland was planned, but the North German weather didn’t cooperate. Heavy rain unfortunately prevented the guided tour with our colleague and bird expert. Nevertheless, there were plenty of opportunities for informal exchange and networking outside the seminar room.
