SHARING KNOWLEDGE, CREATING PERSPECTIVES: LOHMANN BREEDERS ENGAGED IN NORTHERN THAILAND
In January 2026, LOHMANN BREEDERS, together with its partners, successfully implemented a training week as part of the Global Egg School in the Wawee Valley in northern Thailand. The aim of the initiative was to provide practical knowledge in egg production and thus promote sustainable income opportunities for farming families in the region.
Cooperation with strong partners
The programme was hosted by Hilltribe Organics and carried out in cooperation with the International Egg Foundation (IEF). Both existing contract farmers and new producers took part.A large proportion of the participants were women – highlighting the importance of egg production for economic independence and stable livelihoods in rural areas.
Practical knowledge for sustainable farms
The training focused on key topics such as:• Biosecurity
• Poultry management and
• Poultry Nutrition.
All content was practice‑oriented and designed to strengthen participants in the sustainable management of their farms. The programme was complemented by train‑the‑trainer elements to ensure long‑term knowledge transfer within the community.
Regional conditions in focus
In addition to the training sessions, “LOHMANN trainers” Eduardo Bernardi (Regional Commercial Technical Manager Asia) and Dr.Vichian Srithayarat (Commercial Technical Manager Asia), together with the IEF team, visited the egg packing station, the feed mill and local farms operated by Hilltribe Organics. These insights formed an important basis for adapting technical recommendations to local conditions in the Wawee Valley.
New perspectives through contract production
The introduction of contract egg production has already contributed to greater economic stability in the region and offers families long‑term prospects in an area with previously limited employment opportunities.Education as part of our identity
The engagement in northern Thailand is part of LOHMANN BREEDERS’ commitment to sharing knowledge and supporting sustainable development along the value chain. In partnership with organisations such as the IEF, the company supports educational initiatives worldwide, including Global Egg Schools in African countries.
Together for a sustainable future of egg production
LOHMANN BREEDERS would like to thank the International Egg Foundation, Hilltribe Organics and all those involved for their trust‑based cooperation.LOHMANN BREEDERS – It’s the egg
