1st LOHMANN LABORATORY SCHOOL 2019

A new School for lab technicians, veterinarians and biologists We were very glad to hold our 1st LOHMANN LABORATORY SCHOOL, which took place from 12th to 15th August 2019 in Cuxhaven. 15 people from 6 different nations followed our invitation to join our 1st LOHMANN LABORATORY SCHOOL for training and exchange of experiences. Our LOHMANN Vet lab team arranged a varied and interesting program. The school was intended not only for those who are intensively involved daily in the performance or evaluation of laboratory diagnostic work, but also for those in the field who should have the basic knowledge about possibilities and limitations of diagnostics in poultry. Commencing with a common welcome dinner on Sunday evening, the participants had the chance to get to know each other before the seminar program started the next morning. The whole seminar was split into two parts. The first part of the days was a lecture part with some presentations like “How birds fight infections!” or “Bacteriology: Bacteria classification, isolation and identification methods” and on the second half of the days the participants had the chance to learn something in our own Vet Lab. The highlight of the week was the excursion day on Wednesday to the island “Helgoland” where we had the opportunity to explore the island and participate in an interesting guided tour to learn about the birds in nature.
